Our childrens film opening sequence is about Batman and Robin, however Batman's not the usual superhero that we all know. We have decided to make Batman the villan and Robin become the super hero who saves the day. This is known as challenging the steriotype of superheros, the usual superhero is friendly, helpful and an idol to everyone. Alothough because of the main super hero Batman, no one looks up to his sidekick Robin. As a consequence we thought that we would make Robin shine and become the superhero he should be. But by doing so we have changed Batman, Batman turns into the villain by steeling and committing crime, allowing Robin to save the day.

    

We are all going to have a chance to film our opening sequence as there is only three of us and everyone is a character within the film. For example i shall film Batman and Robin while they act and produce a scene. We shall then change round for instance when im actiong with Robin aka Luka, Colin aka Batman will have a chance to film. This allows us to share the amount of work and have an opportunity to show our filming skills we have gained. We decided to use all of us within the film as it would be more interesting to watch which the added character. it also draws the audience in to the mystery of the fortune teller being assosiated with Batman and Robin.

As we are all acting in our film we are all responsible for our own characters needs. I shall bring in the jewells, the crystal ball and my costume as this is what i shall be wearing and will need as i am the fortune teller. I am also bringing the jewwels and valuables as i am the only girl out of the group and who owns jewellery. Colin is responsible for his Batman costume and a sward as he is Batman and the film wouldnt work without his costume. And finally Luka will be bringing in his Robin outfit and a sward too, as the swards are important for their battle scene. We are all bringing in our own costumes and props as we are responsible for our own characters and are sharing the responsibility, making it more likely that we shall remember what we need and its also easier because one person hasn't got to bring in everyones costumes as this would be heavy and difficult to carry.

We have decided that the best option to film would be around the college, this would allow us to film as many takes as we need to make our film the best it can be. We have located our film within a building and within the woodland areas around the college. The building resembles where Batman and Robin are usually filmed, however creating a twist the use of the woods. The woods is to create tention an myetery for example when Robin meets the Fortune teller. We do not need permising to film around these areas as we are not interupting another class or anyone else.

In conclusion me and my group used the idea of Batman and Robin as it is a well known cartoon for children and Batman has has many successfil films. However all of these films and cartoons have always been about Batman saving the world and Robin has always been his sidekick. The use of a fight and the different location of the woods makes the film seem mysterious and more interesting. Therefore i believe that our idea would be very successful as it is different and unexpected to the stereotype of superheros. This is why our film contains Batman as the villain and Robin as the superhero, this also allows children to see that they can and are important to the world, and can make a difference just like Robin.

Individual blog - Explanation of the project.

For our project, we decided to base our opening childrens film on "Batman and Robin". Unlike the traditional books, cartoons and films; we're portraying Batman as a criminal who steals jewels and casuses trouble. We felt that a film that challeneges the typical "superhero", would be more beneficial as it's something that is rarely seen in todays society. Even though we're trying to challenege the typical superhero, most of the conventions will stay the same while trying to keep contrasts to a minimum. The music itself doesn't challenge the genre conventions as it fits in with what we're producing.

Our group consists of only three people, so it's going to be difficult to create the atmosphere and impression we want to give with only two actors. (the third is filming with the camera). We are, however, going to involve all three of our group members in the acting, rotating the camera person so we all get a slice of the action. In addition to this, one member may be playing the role of a selection of characters, not just sticking to one - this is to enhance our film by including a lot more detail and adding to our storyline to amplify its sucssess. As a group, we're using a number of props and costumes to give the film a sense of realisim and to make our audience more engaged in the story we're trying to announce.

Two of our group members, will be playing the role of Batman and Robin, and both of these characters will come fully equipped with the exact costumes you'd expect to see in a Batman film. If we chose not to involved costumes, it won't give our film a a sense of realisim and our audience may get bored and find the film dull. Incidentally, we're using a number of props such as a crystal ball, headscarfs and two swords. These props are vital in our film as they help reinforce the story we're trying to put forward.

As we're only allowed to film in the premises of the college grounds, we'll be filming our opening sequence around college in a number of places ranging from the corridors inside, to the trees on the field. We've given specific targets to all our members to bring the costumes and props we each need. We feel we've constructed our film well and prepeared for it as well as we could have. Each member has vital roles and must give as much effort and attention as needed.

Mise en scene research

For our childrens film opening sequence we decided to use the original batman and rorin characters but with a twist.In order to create our film we need to research and make use of mise on scene. Mise en scene is the use of costume, props and location where the film is based, to help the audience understand.

 

As we based our film on Batman and Robin it helped us choose our costume as we needed a batman and Robin outfit. However as we also included an extra character we needed a fortune teller costume too. The use of these super hero type of costumes appeals to children as its exciting and interesting to see someone dressed differently and be able to save the world. Therefore with the use of fun bringly coloured costumes it makes the characters seem more friendly and fun to watch and attracts our target audience of children.

   
Batman and Robin are usually filmed within a building or down a street, however as we are filming during lesson time we have decided we would base our film within a building and the wooded areas outside. The woodland areas create a sense of adverture and mystery to the clip as its unusual from everyday life to be based within the woods. Also the use of the woods makes the fortume teller appear strange and mysterious, which helps create a sense of the unknown to the viewer.


 
During our film we shall used a few props to make the film more interesting. For example we are using a few jewells and valuables to make the scene of Batman steeling more intense and shocking. We decided this because within many films something valuable such as jewells are stolen more than anything else for example from the film Night at the museum. Within the night at the museum the golden tablet was stolen, this tablet was important and valuable as is made the museum come alive at night. Another prop we shall be using is swards, for the Batman and Robin showdown. We choose the use of swards for a few reasons, one reaosn was for the safety of the group as swards where better than them physically hurting each other. Another reaosn was as a few films such as Aladin and Peter Pan use swards to fight against their enemies. This is a friendlier way fro enemies to fight as usually they just contain the sward fight and no one is actually hurt. This therefore applies to our childrens film genre as its safer and friendlier for children to watch.

Risk assessment

This is our risk assessment, we have created this because during the production of our film we shall be creating a fight scene and chase scenes. Therefore to make sure we are un injured we have created a risk assessment . We shall make sure that when we are filming the chasing scene that Luka and Colin are safe, to do so we are going to look around the ground and make sure nothing is going to cause a hazard. We are also going to film when everyone else is in class so that there isn't anyone walking around that we could bump into. Also during the fight scene we are going to make sure Luka and Colin are a certain distance away from each other and don't swing hard with the sward. This will stop them from accidentally hitting on another.

Batman soundtrack planning

This is the soundtrack we will implement into our children's film opening. We've decided to use fast, intense music for the end of the opening which will help convey a message of intensity and violence. The use of this music helps compliment the genre we've chosen to use which is adventure and action. The music itself doesn't challenge the genre conventions as it fits in.
